1st of many....

Well, hello world, this has been a LONG time coming.  I have been wanting to do this for quite some time and as a matter of fact I've blogged before. I had a fitness blog.

I will start out by introducing myself.  I'm Danae, a wife of 15 years to my WONDERFUL husband Mike, a Mom to 4 great kids, almost 23, 18 and 10 yr old twins.  I love Jesus :)  I am a faith based woman and I couldn't be prouder of that!
I am a fit mom.  In fact I'm a national level physique competitor.  I'm currently injured and unable to train in the way that is necessary to compete, so I'm on kind of a forced hiatus for now and that's ok.  I'll get back in time safely and without continuing to injure myself.  So, until that time.....

I have been sort of "lost" lately..  I just turned 43 at Christmas and thought it might be the dreaded "mid life pos" that we hear so much about.  I go through something like this like once every 6 months though.  I'm a stay at home Mom, which I LOVE but I have that feeling of "what the h e double hockey sticks am I doing with my life".  What does God want from me.  I ask him all the time to use me for his will but I guess he doesn't need me right now.  I like so many different things.  I've had a small home based bakery, I do craft fairs, I love music, I love fitness, I love to DIY.  It's hard to nail down what it is that I REALLY love.  So in talking with my husband the other day at the dinner table (after sobbing that my life has no meaning), I think I realized really deep down what I love, what I've always loved.....

I love old junk.  Well, what others might consider "junk".  The older the better I say (kinda like me) :)  I have always been into "country" style ever since I can remember.  I used to go to Long Grove (a shoppers paradise) here in Long Grove, IL.  I would go with my Mom.  Go the Apple Haus and watch them press apples, buy apple turnovers and shop til our hearts content.  I remember one time going up to our favorite store (the owner new us by name probably because she knew we were going to spend a crap ton of money, she saw $$).  But really, she liked when we visited her.  We went "mini" crazy one day and bought a shadow box and filled it up with them.  We spend $350.  We brought the bag of mini's home, dumped it on my kitchen table and asked my husband at that time how much he thought we spent on all that.  He says "I don't know, $30?"  My Mom and I both cracked up.  Little did he know!!  I don't think I ever told him ;)

So my obsession with old stuff has been in my blood ever since I can remember.  I always say I was born in the wrong era.  I love old movies, old furniture.  I like the stories that they have.  I can imagine what the people who had them did, how their families were, how they ran their farm etc.  I want chickens!  Anyone who knows me knows my obsession with chickens!  I have farm tools on my family room walls.  A hog snare, a horse collar etc.  I mean really, how much more "farm" can you get in suburbia.  I WILL eventually one day have a farmhouse with a GIANT chicken coop!  One day.  You watch me.

In this blog I plan on sharing my adventures in junking, barn sale ing, flea market finding and mommy ing.  I love my kids!  My family is everything to me.  God has blessed me beyond what I deserve and I never take that for granted.  I thank God everyday for my husband and children and do not take my responsibility as a wife and mother lightly.

So all my little everyday adventures will be included in here as well as my amazing finds during my travels.  I love to go to barn sales.  In fact, my favorite one so far was up in Michigan (luckily my Auntie lives up there so that gave me an excuse to go visit her and took her with, and my cousin and my mommmmmma).  That day was sooooo fun!  My MOM loves old stuff too.  I got my love of vintage from her.  Thank you MOM!  She's really into quilts.  She bought 2 while we were there.  My Auntie has never really been "into" old stuff but ever since she bought her house on 4 acres she has gone "old" crazy.  Bought old barn doors from a horse stall that have teeth marks in them!  How cool.  I was so proud of her.

Trust me, this blog will make no sense, it won't be in order and I'll just shoot random crap outa my mouth from time to time.  I have a LOT that I love to do and this blog will include it all.  Enjoy the shenanigans on Instagram as well @thejunkinpunk.   It's gonna be FUN!!!

Enjoy all my adventures, I know I look forward to them :)
